The Matinee was started in Akron’s Highland Square historic area in the fall of 2006. It was opened by Mario Nemr (and pals), the long time resident DJ at Akron’s infamous alternative nightclub, Thursday’s Lounge. The Matinee became an instant hit within the local Akron music scene. Local and national bands are attracted to its warm atmosphere, small stage, and a great sound system. In addition, an excellent beer and wine list made it a welcoming spot for just about any person who enjoys the nightlife.
The Matinee has opened a second location in the historic Tremont / Ohio City (Cleveland) area.
The bar is located at 2527 W. 25th St. and entail the same coziness and charm as the Akron location. Live music from Indie-Rock to the Blues will be a common theme at the new Matinee in Cleveland. A great patio and tons of parking will also make it more attractive to patrons in the area. Again, a great selection of beers and an excellent sound system makes The Matinee a bar-goers paradise.
